Inspired by the Latin proverb “Docendo dicimus”, which translates as “we learn by teaching”, the project course focused on the students’ didactic skills as well as their creative abilities. From the question „What do we want to learn?”, the workshops developed thematically over the course of the semester into instructions and assistance that can make it easier to get started in graphic design studies. In addition to the conception, the focus was particularly on the implementation of the workshops, as the participants were able to gain expertise in instructing others and gain teaching experience. Presenting, conveying, giving and receiving feedback was just as important as the graphic results. Teaching requires a deeper understanding of the material to be taught and therefore always includes learning processes. In addition, learner(s) must structure their knowledge and present it in a way that is understandable to others. This creates a sustainable knowledge base - true to the motto “we teach, we learn”.
