The consequences of the clothing industry

In my bachelor’s thesis, I looked at the consequences of the clothing industry. What began with research into the effects of our textile consumption led to an attempt to create new clothing without using new clothing.

All the textiles I used were second hand. They were re-tailored, combined, re-sewn and above all: printed. Screen printing was my central tool - and at the same time an open space for experimentation.

Which colors harmonize with each other?
How does linen or corduroy behave?
Which tones shine on dark fabrics?
How often can you print mixed colors on top of each other?
How can materials be combined and multidimensionality created?
Which sewing techniques, such as the overlock seam, are suitable for this?
And above all: what do you actually want to say - and how do you convey this message through clothing?

These questions accompanied me through the entire process. I didn’t find the answers in books, but in doing: in printing, sewing and combining. This resulted in a collection of over 30 unique pieces - each an experiment, each with its own story and identity.
